Employment History

Situation Vacant....

In conjunction with the section headed "My CV Portfolio", I have decided to include a brief synopsis of the organisations that I have

worked for, and the roles that I have held.

................................................................................................

Nittan UK - August 1990 to may 1994

Nittan UK

Nittan UK, formed in 1972 are part of the Nittan Group originally formed in Japan.

The Nittan Group has been at the forefront of the fire protection industry since 1954 and has sales, R&D and manufacturing bases in Japan,

China, Sweden and the UK.

Working for this company was certainly an eye opener for me - not only was this my first full-time job since leaving Farnborough College of Technology,

but this was back in the days when Health & Safety in the work place was not such a big issue as it is today!

I still remember sitting at my desk puffing away on a cigar.... (yes me!).

I was employed by the organisation as a Software Support Co-ordinator. My main function was to bring the company's existing non-integrated,

IT Infrastructure up-to-date. Considering I was fresh out of college, and at the time possessed no real-time, practical experience, or

communication / social interaction skills (No change there then....) - was no mean feat.

The good 'ole days....

.................................................................................................

KBA Computer Systems LTD - January 1995 to Jan 2003

KBA Computer Systems Ltd - No longer trading!

KBA Computer Systems LTD, were a Hampshire based organisation that provided Technology based, Dealer Management Systems, to the Motor Trade.

The main management team consisted of Keith Brindle - the Managing Director, Peter Roberts (Rest in Peace!) - the Technical Director,

and Graham Goodchild - the Sales & Maketing Director.

I was employed by the organisation as a Helpdesk Support Consultant. My main functions was to provide telephone & email support to the external

client base.

It was Keith Brindle who first realised my technical potential - thanks for the encouragement Keith.

.................................................................................................

KDL / Kenure Developments Limited - January 2004 to May 2007

KDL

KDL was founded in 1962 as an electro-mechanical contractor, primarily serving the defence and aerospace industries.

I was employed by the organisation as an I.T Systems Administrator. This was, as far as I am concerned, my first ~real~ step into the I.T arena.

Roles undertaken here, as the title suggests, varied considerably. I still remember my first main project that I engaged in whilst at the organisation....

I had to connect a SMT machine residing on the shop (via cat 5e cable) through to the server room located on the first floor.

I still remember thinking at the time "wow, where I start....?"

I then had to develop a program to convert the data transmitted along the cable run, into a format suitable for uploading into an Informix Database,

residing on a UNIX platform - still proud of that....

.................................................................................................

Amazon.co.uk - May 2007 to May 2008

KDL

Mmmm, not sure if you have heard of this global giant....

Amazon.co.uk opened its virtual doors in October 1998 and strives to be the world's most customer-centric company, where people can find

and discover anything they might want to buy online, and endeavours to offer its customers the lowest possible prices

(Before you ask, yes I did copy the above blurb directly from their website....)

I was employed by the organisation as a Senior Technical Support Engineer.

Duties peformed ranged from maintaining the UK infrastructure, to the provisioning of end-user support, and new-starter inductions.
